The shutdown of Mexico City, coupled with the death of tourism and worldwide moves towards banning Mexican pork will only accelerate an already unstable situation.  The open border to the north of Mexico, the U.S., may be a rising flashpoint in world instability.

Just when China was beginning to crack down on unethical business practices, labor conditions, and environmental disasters, the new economy has caused the Chinese to reverse the trend.  While short-term benefits will be immediate (businesses may see some ease in rising costs associated with these reforms), long-term implications suggest rises in wasted fields, disenfranchised workers, and piracy of other nations' goods will only exacerbate the growing gulf between Chinese business standards and Western standards.

China is feeling trapped into helping an enemy, the United States, due to the U.S debt they hold, as well as their dependence on U.S consumerism.  This fact may be pushing China towards expanding in other world markets so as to lower their reliance on the U.S. to fund their growing economy.

Is the Swine Flu hype or reality?  The HO says it may just be a tad bit hype, claiming only 7 worldwide deaths from swine flu, not 150, 7 deaths which may take down the nation of Mexico, or at least finish her off.

This story goes right to the 'blood for oil' argument for and against the Iraq war.  Apparently, the U.S. didn't get the memo.  They gave the blood, but didn't get the oil.  Nations directly opposed to American interests, such as China and Russia, are gaining stronger economic ties with Iraq than the Americans.

Finally, a story about the Iraqi Defense costs.  Is this rise fully accounted for, or is the possibility of the politicization and tribalization of the Iraqi army creating artificial cost (as corruption always does.
