Young Israel to Hold Siyum Hashas in Jerusalem
The Jerusalem Great Synagogue is expected to be overflowing on Thursday night, August 9, as the International Young Israel Movement – Israel Region presents its Siyum Hashas.
The event is co-sponsored by Yeshiva University Israel Alumni, the Jerusalem Great Synagogue, Kollel Torah Mitzion, World Mizrachi, Council of Young Israel Rabbis and RCA-Israel.
Siyum Hashas marks the end of a 7.5-year cycle of daily Talmud study, daf yomi, a course of study followed by Jews worldwide since the idea was presented by Rabbi Meir Shapira, famed head of Chachmei Lublin yeshiva in 1923.
