Aung San Suu Kyi Begins Triumphant Visit to Europe
Ms. Aung San Suu Kyi will visit five countries on a 17-day tour that marks a milestone in her progress from political icon under house arrest for much of the last 24 years to parliamentary leader trying to steer her country out of decades of repression, isolation and poverty to full engagement with the rest of the world.
“I think the international community is working very hard to bring our country into it and it is up to our country to respond in that way as well,” she said on arrival in Geneva
